Inspiring Leaders: Steve Jobs

One of the most intriguing stories of leadership is that of Steve Jobs.  One of things that has always impressed me and others about this man is his resilliance in the midst of struggle and his aptitude for innovation.  Every leader worth following has a story full of struggle.  Below are two great stories about the history of a man who is changing the world. The first is an old article from 1999.  The other is in his own words.

At Steve’s urging, Woz eventually left his position at Hewlett Packard for a more exciting venture. Steve and Woz turned the Job family’s garage into a workshop and set out to build a personal computer. Steve was just 21 years old. Woz was five years his senior. What the elder had in technological proficiency Steve made up for in business smarts and ambition. Without the luxury of venture capital, the two gave up their most prized possessions to fund the company. Steve sold his Volkswagen. Twitter Users Grow 300% in 2 Months

You may not know what Twitter is or you may not understand why anyone would want to use it, but the numbers should get your attention.  Imagine if I told you about an upcoming business that had more than tripled its consumer base for 10 million to 32 million in only 2 months.  Oh and you could tap into that group.  Twitter is a revolution that every leader should be following!

Below is an article that should peak your interest in what is happening with right now with Twitter.  This is only the beginning of where this company will be.  If you haven’t heard someone referring to Twitter or tweating yet.  You will.

To put that in growth into perspective, Twitter has just passed Digg (23 million), LinkedIn (16 million), and the NYTimes.com (17.5 million) in monthly unique visitors, as counted by comScore. And comScore only measures the number of people who visit Twitter’s Website, not the millionsmore who send and read tweets via their phones, desktop apps, or other Websites.  – Link
